A Growing Sawa Spark

Sawa Spark Eddie Mukiibi is planting seeds of success in his community by transforming the way people think about agriculture. Eddie runs a program called Developing Innovations in School and Community Cultivation, which works with schools to train young people how to grow fruits and vegetables and earn a living from it. 

Eddie says agriculture is sometimes used as a punishment in schools, but he wants people to see it as an opportunity. “Our communities have a lot of challenges and most of them are agriculture based. The more we drive people away from farming, the more we will suffer in terms of inadequate food and poor returns from agriculture.”
